One Response to “How do i recover my windows vista to a certain date?”

Geri:

1. I’d try using “last known good configuration”.
a. Restart your computer
b. Immediately start click the F8 key and keep clicking until the Advanced Options Menu appears.
c. Select last known good configuration.

2. Open the “system restore”. Vista should create restore points each time you start your computer. Close all open programs.
a. Click start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore.
b. If the security dialog box appears click continue, or enter the administrator password > submit.
c. If you have no recent updates you’ll a dialog box with a system overview. Click next. Otherwise it will show two options: Recommended Restore or Choose Different Restore Point. Try recommended restore first and follow prompts. If it doesn’t work try using a different restore point and follow prompts.
d. You can also try running system restore in safe mode. After clicking F8 choose Safe Mode and follow system restore steps.

3. Last option is System Recovery from install disk.
a. Insert disk and restart computer (BIOS must be set to boot from CD/DVD as first option.)
b. From installation window click next
c. Click “repair your computer”
d. Click Vista > next
e. Try start up repair.

If above steps don’t work you might have no choice but a complete reformat/reinstall.
